Calamansi Juice with Honey Recipe for 1 Year Old

Let me share with you how I prepare my toddler’s Calamansi Juice with Honey which she drinks daily.

Previously, I posted an article showing how I would prepare a freshly-squeezed orange juice for her daily Vitamin C boost.

However, she switched to drinking Calamansi Juice with Honey when she developed cough and colds.


IMPORTANT: Please consult your child’s Pediatrician first. If your child is less than 12 months old, NEVER give her honey.

Pediatricians recommend waiting until the baby is at least 12 months before introducing honey because it may contain spores of bacteria that can cause Botulism.

These bacteria are harmless to adults and children over 1 year old, however, it can make babies, whose digestive and immune systems are less developed, seriously (and possibly fatally) sick. (SOURCE: https://www.parents.com)


Why I Started to Offer Calamansi Juice with Honey

Due to some unfortunate events, I was hit by a viral infection.

Then, after a month of not feeling well, my toddler also started showing some symptoms that she’s also affected by my sickness.

Thank God she only had cough and colds and she never had any fever.

She remained active and happy that’s why I was relieved.

However, knowing that she’s nursing a stubborn wet cough didn’t make me feel any better.

That’s why after consulting her Pediatrician, we started adding this juice to her daily diet, replacing the orange juice which she would always take after taking a bath.

How to Prepare Calamansi Juice with Honey

This recipe is very simple.

I shared below my recipe in making a 4oz. serving.

Ingredients and items you need to prepare:
* 4 pcs. of Calamansi
* 1/2 tbsp. of Honey
* 3oz. of water
* measuring cups
* strainer
* knife
* any container or glass for mixing

Procedure:

STEP 1: Slice the Calamansi.

NOTE: For your initial serving, you may follow the ratio 1 Calamansi : 1 oz. of water. Then, adjust according to your child’s tolerance to the sour taste.

STEP 2: Squeeze the Calamansi while using a strainer to catch the seeds.

STEP 3: Add 3oz. of water.

STEP 4: Add about 1/2 tbsp. of Honey (adjust according to your child’s preference)

STEP 5: Pour the mixture into your child’s feeding bottle (or glass if they’re already used to it)

Serve! 🙂
